First of all what are the first two digits of the serial number and what is the software version of your XL.
You find them both in the TTgo.bif file from which you copied a part in the first post.
the serial number you find by "DeviceSerialNumber=" and the software version by "ApplicationVersionVersionNumber="
Is your TomTom XL patched earlier? So I mean made fit for self downloaded maps?
If you anwer these questions, I will try and help you further.
Greetings

Due to the limited internal memory I would like to suggest
1 Update navcore to 9.510 for 64Mb devices
2 Southern Europe 1035_9676
If this will work on your device, maybe a test later with navcore 9.541 is possible but not always usefull.
I'm not quite sure if a flash update of your gps chip is possible
Mind your mailbox, please

And don't forget the change of the file glgps (folder bin) into a newer one to solve the WNRO-problems (a XL IQ-routes has the GL2 Chip)

Yes, Global Locate 2 (GL2). Nothing to flash in this case (XL IQ-routes). Only swap the glgps for a newer one (e.g. from a NC 9.541)
Because of your rider2 and Sirf Star III gps chip: Some users report slightly better results on the Rider2 with the GSW3.6.0. instead of 3.2.5 (gps chip firmware update)Last edited by Alfred_ML; 19th November 2019 at 07:47 PM.

@PatGat,
Before you do anything, first make a a WINDOWS backup from the internal memory of your XL.
So not with TTHome but with the windows-explorer.
Then try to update your navcore (software version) from 8.415 to 9.510 or 9.451 by connecting the XL with TTHome and search for updates.
It is possible that you have to repeat this step several times before the navcore is 9.510 or 9.451.
After that use to patch your new navcore. This is necessary to make the navcore fit to use self-downloaded maps.
Then try if everything is still working (new navcore, old map).
Then delete the old map from the XL.
After that you can download a new map with the same tool (TTActivator) on your XL and activate that.
You could choose Southern Europe 1035_9676 as PE1AGP suggested, but there more possibilies; Europe_South 1035_9676 or Europe_South_West 1035_9676.
If that all went well, your TT XL will run on the new navcore and the new map.
Any questions? Ask me.
greetings

Hello
Sorry for the delay I had to get the fathers'tomtom.
I did fine everything you told before.
I downloaded Europe_West_1GB_1035_9679
Then I suppose I need to activate the map in TTActivator?
But TTActivator says in status "Meta/Blowfish missing"
What do I have to do?
I updated meta (it took about 4 minutes and ok) but nothing has changed.
And of course when switching up the tomtom i am said I can't use this map.
