    Sad Tomtom Carminat 8.843 - 0 satellites

Somebody please help with this "0 SATELLITES " problem.
I tried everything with original cab 8.843, with preprepared versions 8.843, with update from TT Home etc. Always same issue. Carminat starts, everything is fine but cannot find any satellite. Always stays at 0 Satellites no matter that it shows the correct map (with patched navcore 8.843 latest version). I can see that people are satisfied with this version and it solves the WNRO issue. Sadly not in my case. What I've tried so far (from some suggestions):
I'm formatting the card in between navcore change, ttgo.bif is with correct unique ID and navcore version, i tried deleting files in loopdir. I tried deleting files in ephem, I even do as someone suggested to update this way so to be sure that files on internal are updated as well (added to root of sd from orig cab - install (folder), splashw.bmp, ttsystem). After that carminat updated everything to 100% and when returned the prepared SD with 8.843 still no satellites. It is not sensor related issue since the car is shown on the carminat ~10km from my location and when i start driving it follows my direction, so when i turn left the arrow turns left as well, when i drive straight it follows my direction, just not on right location. So my sensor, carminat and navcore are ok but something is messing the signal and i don't have a clue what is that.

I can tell you that after the update to 8.843, Carminat works perfectly.

You are probably facing a hardware problem, your description shows it well.

Know that your GPS onboard is equipped with a gyroscope, associated with the information of the ABS, it allows you to be always guided even in the absence of momentary reception of the satellites, as for example, the passage in tunnel.
The causes may be, the antenna damaged or a faulty connection of coaxial cables or cable crushed, bent, faulty navigation calculator, in the worst case, it may be the GPS unit itself, but unlikely.

After the repair if necessary and for the update, do not use TTHome.
This will save you from losing files on the SD card, such as your favorites, poi, etc.

In your case, with your successive manipulations, you no longer have the guarantee of the proper functioning of your SD.

I suggest you create a new SD from a backup in 8.842 that worked perfectly.
If you do not have or have not made a backup before the update, you must create new SD from scratch.

    For updating to 8.843
Download navcore 8.843 at this address (if you have not already done so):
    Link URL:

Unzip the cab file, in the created folder you will find, among other things, a folder named "install", open it then in the DS_1 folder, you will find the file "IA0000700006swlimage0.zip", unzip the, only two files we are interested in: " PNDNavigator " and " ~ tsystem " that you rename to " ttsystem ".
Copy and paste them on to the SD by overwriting those already present.

Unlock the new navcore with your favorite tool, install your SD in the car turn on the radio or start the engine, Carminat will take into account the new navcore and update the loopdir, it can take 15 to 30 seconds or more, to the end of the sequence, turn off the engine, open the door, remove the SD.

Check with TTHome any update as an ephemeris file for example, made this update, check the consideration of the new navcore (8.843) and return to the car, you must have an operational Carminat.

PS If you install a new map, do not forget to patch it too.

I've done everything possible including above mentioned. Yesterday I tried again new navcore posted by nyky, i've tried navcore also 8.843 by dav, i've tried your suggested official navcore (even i've done that already few days ago), followed exactly the procedure. Nothing helps, same issue. I don't know why nyky's version and official tomtom navcore did not offer in TT Home new ephemeris files. Only for the version by dav TT Home provide new ephemeris which i did update but still same - 0 Satellites.
Also is there any option to open satellites menu like on other Tomtom's to see if something is happening in background or everything is just "flat line". I tried every possible key combination but all i can enter is
map and navicore version etc by holding INFO 3 sec and going right on the rotary switch. No key combination on the INFO menu is letting me enter the satellites option. (maybe there is on the remote which i don't have and it is lost - but i doubt it since on it there are same combination of keys like on the central control.
Worth to mention is that few days back the shown location was ~6-7 KM from my real location and yesterday after few days driving the car around the location was moved to the west on additional ~6 KM probably because the navi is working and the pointer is moving along with me while im driving around and follows every movement of mine in any direction, just it cannot fix my real location. I'm starting to worry that maybe is something hardware related but on other hand there are few people that mention the same or similar issue and that the carminat eventually after few KM started acting normal. In my case is ~60 driven KM in 3-4 days of driving and still nothing

You have followed several update procedures without achieving a satisfactory operation, you are not more stupid than those who have succeeded, especially since the procedure is not difficult.

This should lead you to ask the question about the good or the bad functioning of the material, the assumption of the breakdown does not seem absurd to me.

You will only be able to dispel the doubts about the equipment by asking for an expertise from your Renault dealer or garage, unless you have the tools and knowledge to carry it out yourself.

The INFO key, of memory, allows you to visualize the satellite reception graph: number and level of signal, polar coordinates of your position on the map, but also to access the traffic information (short press), to access the synthesis of the programmed course (long press)

As I explained above, this GPS is equipped with a gyroscope which allows to keep the direction, the speed, even in the absence of satellite reception, which is why the blue arrow, which is your position on the map, moves to accuracy near the measurement of the speed that is given by the ABS module and the steering angle in the curves and change of direction.

This explains to you why you have a drift which increases with the distance traveled.

PS link of the user manual, in French, unfortunately it is no longer available in other languages on the site of Renault, not too surprising, Carminat tomtom has exceeded its ten years of age.

Definitely it need to be checked Renault to see if there is some hardware related issues.
As i mentioned before i played a lot with INFO and other buttons to get the satellite reception graph, i checked with manual also there is no such thing there. Can you explain the key combinations in order.
Below pictures are from other devices just for explanatory purposes:
    - By long pressing INFO ~3 sec im getting
    route summary menu:

So the dilemma is how to enter satellite graph menu where it shows 0 Satellites so i can check if there some movement in the background and if carminat is trying to lock on some satellites. Like on other tomtom devices (below image)

    - In that route summary menu when im going right on the rotary switch it shows version information:

Yes, but you should delete this photo or at least hide the device ID to prevent piracy of this number.

Could you indicate the first two letters of your "DeviceSerialNumber", it seems that your Carminat is a "live" if that was the case, the navcore 8.843 is not appropriate for your device and you do not have to perform update to correct the wnro.

For the rest we will see according to whether it is Carminat live or not live.

If you have doubts about navcore itself - you can try to "repair" it - in early 2014 there were some troubles updating navcores for Carminat Live - so they placed "restore-ttsystem" on their server (link is dead now) - in fact it is 9.883, but who knows? Maybe it is built to downgrade from latest 9.884 (was indeed released half-a-year later).

If you are interested in it (found it in my archives) - "just whistle"

    @ rusigor

My TT model is a "non live", first release of the vehicle May 2010, it is what you show that caught my attention.
