    Default Larger SDCard

I have recently found out the the newer GO units, and certaily GO5200/6200 will now take a 64GB SDCard. It is SDXC 64GB and at about £9.99 including post and packing, is pretty cheap. It also means that you can install ALL the 1030 maps at last I think.

I am loading all the current 1025 maps at the moment, and undating to 1030 is a lot quicker if they already exist when it comes to an upgrade.
You may disagree on that, and chose to upgrade the maps singley and not want all the maps anyway.

It you do chose to get an SDCard, please bare in mind the cost and the various speeds, as they range from 80MB/s to 275MB/s. Also think about the speed on the unit and if it is worth it. If the unit cannot make use of the speed, is it worth it?

Same also applies to whether you use USB connection and/or Wifi

Even with Wifi, it depents on your router/ unit connected to etc.
At home it maybe faster that in a hotel, or outside a free hot spot.
I notice this at home and work with Wifi. I would expect home would be faster, but actually I have much faster connection speeds at work. Only Dave and my proper friends have an idea where I work, but probably realise why it is MUCH faster at work LOL. Looking forward to G5 which will be soon here

I have some further update. With the new version from TT that now allows bigger SDCards, I have tried with 64GB was a success and now with an older 128GB card. It is not as fast as the much newer and more expensive 64GB card, it now covers all of the maps. Most of which you will not need. The 64GB covers all but one map, but obviously the 128GB coveres all available. So if you really want to have lots of smaller maps, rather than just Europe and USA, now you can. Plus all the others.
What I would suggest is that you have your main map on your unit, but put all the others on a card.

Also, since I bricked my GO5200 and went back to GO5100 and now have a 5200 whilst waiting for a replacement GO5200, I have come across some other things.
Yes, the GO5200 holds bigger maps than the 5100 although the version is the same. Speed cam files are smaller on the 5100 than the 5200. Speed to change routes in traffic are both great, but the 5100 is quite a bit slower. I also compare with TT mobile on Android, not apple crapp as I do not like them. Garmin maps as good, routes are as bad as my Vauxhall and Audi ones are. Next car I will buy will not have NAV as a bonus, I see it more as a problem.....should get a rebate if they sell Nav as an option as they are crap. That is apart from the ones using TT.
Use of google is great until you need to route a place. Great, but traffic and rerouting is POOR. Maybe 25/30 mins late. TT is about every 2 mins. Not perfect, but DEFFINITELY the best

I do not work for TomTom. In fact I piss them off a lot and I do not like having to replace my GO5200 that is bricked but is out of warranty and the b**gers want £80 to fix or replace (replaced- it is f**ked)
10 to 14 days to fix, requires UPS stuff and a receit. Doh what if I do not have a printer? How can I use UPS without a note, and with a printer I do not have? I thought GO5200 with WiFi for use if no computer. Then how can return? Idiots

If you what to know how to use bigger SDCards on your unit, I can help. It is easy really, but easily mistaken. Hence 128GB now and 64GB before. There is a correct way for TT to recognice a new card, and I can but, you will think easy, but make a mistake.
Make sure your unit can see the card first. It probably will not at first, if it already is formatted...Many are
If you formated before, that is a mistake.......as TT will not accept most formats. A new Card maybe ok, but do not pust in PC first or you will make a mistake.
Can fix that by unformatting (but just do not put in PC first)
Add card to device. Reboat and hold down power button and you will see card is there.
let TT boot up and see in system what you have....maybe about 3GB free, check format and format card
Reboot and now see how much you have available
Now load all the maps you want onto Card

    Simple.

Now thank the top guys in this forum that look after you
If you have a lower unit, better help them with subscriptions for the next. I only worrk with the top TT stuff and help the ones with less

Now you are talking about NAV2 or NAV3 devices? Or maybe - both of them?

The newer units with small micro SDslots that are not end of life. Of course, back up what you have before you try the larger cards, but that goes without saying really. A quick guide could be, if you got a software update just after or before the latest map updates, as before, it would not have worked. You maybe using USB units that are not USB2, and it is doultfull will work with those units. Times progress. I am refering to GOx200 models. Other high end ones may or may not have been upgraded. Check to see if will work and if not, then no loss, but without trying you will not learn anything.

More likely to be Nav 4 or 5 or 6 than the older 2 and 3 rusigor.

When you consider the difference in size of files used in newer units, compared to the older ones. Speedcam and map file sizes are significantly larger. Plus a lot more maps are available on newer units, than those on older ones. Some 50 plus maps available to be updated for example, although many are not worth while as are effectively zones or just single countries. Most fit on a 64GB card, but not all. On 128GB, they all will.
On a *100 for example, all fit onto a 32GB card. Many more maps than on older units but requires spliting Europe into bits for buildings etc.
On a *200 more maps, but some can be over 7, almost 8GB in size are available. I think at last update, it said 51 maps to be updated and now with an even larger card, will see how many maps are actually available, as the 64GB one ran out of space and I think one map was not on it. Such is progress

There is something else that I have seen in the The maps for Units on GO*100, GO*200 and android, although they have the same map version numbers, but are actually very different in size, and the number of maps available to download differ largely, and the size of common maps also differ a lot in size. Android have 36 maps available to be downloaded. The *100 has I think 19, and on a 32GB added SD Card has Free space 1.17GB internal and 9.94GB left from a 32GB SD Card. And that is ALL maps available
The *200 with a 128GB SD Card 53 maps I think and 3.27GB free on unit and 60.13GB left on the 128GB SD Card.
    So what is the difference?
There is a hugh difference actually. I used to think it was just WiFi, but it is not that, it is the speed to update traffic, routes etc. Both are live and update according the TTevery 2 mins. Pretty good really. Not perfect, but better than all the other systems when it comes to routes and planning. I have no idea about Mazda and those using Carminat and Merc Blue. Hopefully are great. I know Audi use other systems and GM and quite frankly they are really poor.

I will not be buying replacement car that go for more because it had SatNav, because it is really rubbish. I will be using my TT Unit. I may link it to the screen on the car though with my Mobile TT app running.

Something to get a discount from them is to set a location that they have to arrive at before someone that is using a TT and get say a discount by minute and the dealer has in car they are selling and another person from the company also in the other car. I did it with one company and dropped £5K off the price.....Easy.... who mentioned sticking to speed limits LOL
I love haggling and hussling sales pricks. Since it was recorded, they could not get out of it....
They are all hustlers. Bad move to hussle a hustler

Something else you may not be aware off, is the the newer GO units since the last update, will take a much bigger card than the previous limit of 32GB. They will more take 128GB Cards, noy they you neen to use tham, but it is possibe. I have told JspBlue exactly how to do it. Not posted here, as older units cannot, or rather I have not tested or really want to on old stuff
For thouse with newer units and want to know how, I will tell you in a very easy method. I told my mate, to make sure it was understandable to someone with English not as first language that it was simple
It is easy, but some things seem odd.

Now, since, you may need intructions to do this. All you have to do is send an amount to Orni that uses subscriptions to update new maps for the poor foke. Does not have to be much.
I will not tell anyone withough a subcription, and it really does not have to be much. any little helps
