Have SD card, will travel
Greetings, I've been the owner of a ONE XL for about 5 years now. It has the 1gb of internal memory, but this unit also has an SD slot. Just yesterday, I installed the 1005 version of Northern US/CAN map and it worked, but the map is so big that I have only 11 mbs of internal memory to spare. Sitting beside me is an 4GB SD card. Can I remove the tag covering the SD slot and just insert and everything will look after itself? Or will the slot have been deactivated from the Tom Tom assembly line and Im wasting my time. I'd like to think the spare SD slot would act like extra storage for data, like a phone, so any advice, or link I guess, though I'll probably struggle and ask a billion more questions, on how to do the bootloader would be appreciated. Thanks so much for any help.

The most safe way is to run only from your SDHC card
But SDHC cards above 2GB are only possible from Bootloader 5.5022 and upwards
My suggestion is to do a Bootloader first in the old situation, but before you have to know which Bootloader is active at present
This is possible to read from the ttgo.bif file
Report here about what you've found, than we'll discuss the next steps.
By the way I've moved your post to this part of the forum where it belongLast edited by pe1agp; 22nd April 2019 at 01:10 AM.

Hello thank you for responding and moving my post into the right forum. Regarding my ONE XL, I had backed up everything to my PC before upgrading the map. Then I deleted the everything (not formatted) in the internal memory, installed the SD card, and TOM TOM home wanted to update my basically blank SD card. After that, I was able for Home to restore my new map working backup, but this time it went onto the SD Card! All good so far. Rebooted the GPS, and there is my map running like before. But just one thing wrong now, the unit will not pick up a valid sat signal. It says "0" satellites when its turned on. Any ideas what could be causing that? Regarding my info: Device AK8AC AACSJ, APP 9.510.1234792.2, OS 1114405 (2039, 4/4/2013), 32MB RAM, FREE 3.3MB, GPS V1.20, BOOT 5.5277. MAP IS NORTHERN_US_and_CANADA_1005_8823' v1005.8823.
UPDATE: hmm looks like it work now! Must have had to update satellite signals or something..took about an hour...but now the time is wrong stuck on 12:00am. Assuming this is due to the GPS week number rollover change? Is there a modified navcore or something that can fix it on an older ONE XL?Last edited by Random_Memory; 22nd April 2019 at 04:06 AM.
