I did not ask yet, but there was no need. Nav3 map does not contain Vietnam, it is fact. It is intentional as Vietnam has been under TT radar for two years by now. If it was an error, it must have been discovered. The fact that neither the current nor the earlier Nav3 version of Southeast Asia map does not include Vietnam could only mean one thing: intention.

I don't have suitable smartphone to try GO app, so I'd leave this option for a while.

As regard to what TT says on their website, I am not really interested in making it clear. The usual way the big names go is to tell one thing and sell something different, never admit mistake and always blame customer for not having the latest model. Boring, yeah?

Being the Devils Advocate maybe but why did you bother raising this topic if a) you were already aware of the absence of Vietnam mapping irrespective of their website saying it was included, and, b) you could at least ask the question over there just to hear their pathetic excuse; but, if you're not interested then maybe we shouldn't be either?

PS My own theory is that the TT won't work underground anyway (there are more miles of tunnels in Vietnam that surface roads) which is why they haven't bothered

That's no theory, this is the naked true. In these things TomTom is a degenerated club and TomTom tells a lot of stupid stuff. And yes, the Southeast_Asias of NAV4 and GO-App have Vietnam.

A cheap smartphone is always cheaper than a new NAV4-device, which also is suitable for downloading free lifetime maps of Southeast_Asia (Not these "cheap" beginner devices)

Well, well, I did not know the answer *before* raising this topic. Like most people, when I need a map for a specific country, I check TT website to know which map contains it. Then it was my supprise to discover that the map does not cover the said country. Then thanks to this forum, I learned about the differences between Nav3 and Nav4 maps. I checked the Nav3 map myself, and Alfred_ML is quite positive about Nav4 map which seems to be used by GO App as well. Therefore no more question needed from my part.

I am new to this forum but I have lived long enough to know how things work in real life. I have no appetite to the bullshit those so called Customer Service agents spreading quickly just to close the support ticket.

The thing is wrong in the very first place. Some decades ago, when a product was made, it was accompanied by a detailed user's guide, wich contained well verified information, so that the user could use the product most effectively (of course those who can read).

Today, companies throw out half-baked full-of-bugs products. The "user's guide" now reduced to how to remove the packaging and plug to electrical outlet, then "follow screen instruction". They pocket the money, set up a forum and let customers try to solve their problems themselves. Oh, yes, they do have Customer Service because the company won't look great if they don't. But at the end of the day, Customer Service is no other than a bunch of employees who don't use their product and have no idea what their product is. They are just masters of "saying nothing using lots of word" - a quote from an anonymous...

Maybe TT is an exception and I would be very glad to see how wrong I am.

I like it! However my own explanation may sound like this:

TT might consider adding a whole new country is not an update. It means Nav3 devices may get updated map with new roads, corrections, but not new country. Nav4 devices use different map with added Vietnam. Unfortunately, they use the same name "Southeast Asia" for both maps and that is where confusion comes from. It is just my own theory, so no one should take my words at their face value, please.
