All you need to do is cancel the current route, then reset the route. If you do not it will reappear for all short routes until you cancel a route.

If you find suddenly that you cannot load a map or you are getting lack of traffic link, or speedcam download. Or it says connect via wifi/usb when you know it is correct. Well it isn't. Doing a soft reset with not sort it out. That is powering on by holding the power button on. That does not fix so do not bother wasting time like I did. All you need to do is go into Settings, System, Reset device. That fixed it. you need to put on your Account and password, resetting phone and wifi password. then the MyDrive reconnects and you get your My places back and saved routes. All is fine then. maps updated and traffic and speed cams updated. but you may need to add maps, though unlikely

But you shouldn't have to keep resetting/rebooting etc IF TT GOT THEIR BLOODY ACT TOGETHER and sorted out their appalling track record on these newer devices. Just have a quick read around here to see just how many pi55ed off customers they have:-

SOME Advice if a new TomTom stops or does do unexpected things
Thanks Dave. I was glad you saw it was true and not a rant. To be honest the only good thing about TomTom is their live traffic if you have internal SMS. If not, then it is not. No better than other systems, but with SMS, it really is the best ... I stand by that. The damned expensive way of having it though. Were time really is an issue, it is really the best. Having said that... it is the only thing that is better, and it is only on a few live units. It is not better on those without SIM cards as they use the rds signals and most other competitors do too.

A little bit of snow here and roads get blocked etc. with my traffic, I have not, but then I do not drive a shitty rear wheel drive car...suck on that Jeremy Clarkson. Who in their right mind drives a car to slide around corners and more money to burn with tyres burning? Yet cannot go around a bend in the wet or ice or snow. Hell, I drive in the wet and in the snow in the mountains. ....Get real

We all like driving.....but we want to get from A to B when working without delays and safely. For pleasure, we are not in a hurry anyway. If we want to race, we do track events. I like those at Oulton Park, but that is fun. Realistically we just want normal stuff and accurate really.

GO5100 is great for me but I have GO 5200 only better so I do not need a pc, laptop or tablet. Will I buy another TomTom? NO
I like GO Mobile on Android and have a subscription to 2020 so I really do not care as I have android on my car so 8" screen and it is a wifi hotspot do why would I want to buy another TT unit? I cannot see why I would

    @Maverick
Maybe after 2020 things will change - nobody knows what to expect after several years, we don't know now which navi system will be the best.
As for TT-Truck - on driver from 4pda always scolds new TT-Truck maps (with nc 9702) - according to his experience - the latest TT-truck map, which plans routes accurate - 950, all later - has bugs... And in iGO section - they have more adequate maps for trucks...

    So, lets see...

SOME Advice if a new TomTom stops or does do unexpected things
Going back many years I used my Nokia to find and plan a route to an address in Romania. It was and always has been, and still is. It is 10 Strada Maramureș. if you search you will not find it. They think Strada Mărășești which happens to run parallel. I have told them many times since 2003. I live there. I should know. Ask Ramesh, he knows it means something different anyway.

I am not happy with TT with anything other than the traffic. All others do as well or better. It is only traffic and routes that are better. The car Nav shows buildings

If only. It used to be, now not so sure. I have in my car Nav and use it, but I use the GO5200 as routing is reliable but the car's nav is great map but terrible routing unless want to get stuck in jams or take a silly route

    Hello the Maverick,
I have not made a final decision, but intend to buy TT

    for 3 reasons:
    • Lifetime Maps (World) because I am interested in the map of Europe and Israel.
    • TomTom Traffic via built-in SIM
    • Lifetime Speed Cameras

I contacted TomTom support who told me that the Israel map is included in the World Maps. However, when I consult the

    , Israel is not there.
Since you have a TT GO 5200. May you be kind to check and confirm that you can download the map of Israel?
Also, does TomTom Traffic and Speedcams work for the whole world, including Israel?
    Best Regards

Yes, I have a GO5200, which is similar to the 5100 but with WiFi (the only advantage is that is you do not need a PC to link with, but it really is better if you have)
Yes it includes Israel which is currently v1000.8633. Probably be updated on Tuesday this coming week to v.1005

Routes work for Israel, but I am not aware of speed cams there. One way to check would be to look at

and search a route between Intercontinental Aqaba Resort, King Hussein Street, Aqaba 2311 Jordan and Amirey Hagalil Boutique, Near Amirim Village Upper Galilee, Amirin 2011500 Israel.

Traffic works in many countries in the world, though I do not see any in Israel. Perhaps not have Vodafone links there (do not know). Certainly works in some places in India. Not aware of speed cams listed on TT site for either. Seems to be only for European Continent, the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore
