tomtom home
hi got new map (980) on my tomtom 520 but when I use tomtom home to get map updates and fix does not say map share upto date now (top right)

Nope, sadly bugger all from now on (unless you have a current subscription which they will honour). You can't even "Operate my Go" anymore assuming you're using the latest TTHome of course but you can still do that with a "tweaked" older version of TTHome, see

It depends on which map you use. I do not actually have any TT units, but use TT Home on maps using an SDCard. I get map updates on it. Certainly works on a GO720 (using a card). What you did not mention was the map and version of the map you use and it may not have any updates to load anyway. Quite often there is a pause from having new maps and being able to update mapshare. Europe certainly has updates available now.
One day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.
