    Latest line of excuses:-

I do understand your disappointment and this is not a decision we've taken lightly. Let me try and explain the rationale behind the decision a bit more.

With the increase in technology and range of products we have created, the company has made an executive decision to stop supporting products that will no longer run on our newest software. This has been a long and arduous undertaking that involved the weighing of many pros and cons. In the end, the decision was made to stop supporting some of our much older devices in order to allow our company to grow. We will respect the life of your device regarding any existing subscriptions.

In regards to purchasing maps and services, the benefit of many of our new products is that they come with lifetime map updates for Europe, and some for the world. Many also come with lifetime traffic and speed camera updates. In this way, you would not have to continually purchase those services year after year.

There are a number of devices which cannot use memory cards or are limited to the size of the memory card that they can use. Map files are growing in size very rapidly. It is to the point where they simply will not fit for a large number of devices. We chose to make the decision to continue to improve the quality of our maps, which involves the devices requiring more internal memory than some of our older devices can accommodate.

We do sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, but we do greatly value your business and have therefore created a special offer on several of our new devices, specifically for customers affected by this End of Life decision.

....so it really is just a matter of (I reckon a very short period of) time before the rest of the NAV2's are pensioned off as they obviously also run the "old" navcores!

LOL, a very silly argumentation. First TT creating new small maps (e.g. DACH_North, Germany only or zones Iberia/Italy), ideal for the old 512 MB-devices and then exclude their users from distribution.
It's simply only an enforced application of these "lifetime-(nonsense)-specification" of the new device generations to the old devices thru backdoor: TomTom wants to determine how long a device is allowed to live.

...and will eventually put us out of business once all our subscriptions expire unless someone CAN crack these NAV3/4's?
NOW is the time when our experts really do need to try their very best for us??!! TTuser, where are when we need you most?

TomTom stopped supplying maps for Android that would work on Nav 2 devices 18 months ago.

I received an email from them telling me that my go 520 will be no longer supported because of map sizes getting bigger.
I have an 8 gig sd card in mine which is plenty and not tried to see if a larger one is supported so I don't understand their reasoning.
    So much for lifetime updates.
Just installed the latest truck map on it from this site with no problems and just logged onto tomtom home (the 2.8 patched version that does not force an update to it) and installed the latest mapshare updates.

That's so typical of bloody TT still only just getting round to notifying some owners (since the original announcement on their user forum way back in NOV-16)

It's really just a very poorly thought out method of trying to force owners to scrap their good & reliable older NAV2 devices and give TT more hard-earned cash for a lesser functioning "new & improved" model, yeah, that'll be right....NOT!

All the time there are still current subscriptions for new maps on these older devices then TT says they will carry on supplying new maps for us. (for example there's a Truck map subscription around that's valid to Nov-18)

Furthermore, do remember that it really is just a matter of time (most likely some time this year) before they pull the plug on the rest of the (<2GB internal memory) NAV2's so if you have one of these please consider getting involved as mentioned in post #38 above/here

Personally, I renewed the subscription to France Carminat for 1 year, which brings us to the last delivery in November 2017.
And to France for GO 940 Live for a delivery in November 2018.
