No more maps being sold for SOME of the older NAV2 (& NAV3) devices!

In a word YES for the J6 GO 930.

I just installed the latest Critical Update for TT Home and then after that was complete connected my GO 930 to be Updated which I was under the impression from a previous message from TT that my GO 930 was going to be OK with a Software Update that was part of the total update.

WRONG!!!!!!!!

The Update was installed, then a message advised me that the TT GO 930 would 'Restart' which it did and I then got the 'Select a map' screen and choosing the Europe 1025_9386 provided an ERROR Message telling me that the map would not run on this TT!!!!

So at the moment I am buggered............

But I will do a Restore from a previous Backup and if now't else is forthcoming, then see what happens on April 6th.

The navcore update to 9.541 IS an official update for your Go 930:

Everything you said above is normal however you've forgotten that you need to patch the new navcore with either FA or A-FA to run downloaded maps

Couple of points come out of that:

1) When you carry out the Update for your 'acceptable model' TT you don't know that the Navcore has been changed to 9.541 as no doubt like myself a number of users will be using 9.510.

2) The Update also changes the 'ttsys' file doing I know not what as mine went from 7.83Mb to 8.022Mb.

OK, For the next bit..........

Apologies as I also didn't expect to have to run the Activation program, expecting the new Navcore and Map to 'shake hands' and get on with it, but that was the 'sneaky bit' from TT cos it didn't and threw me a curve!

Now though having run the Activation/Patch program we are all 'hunky dory' and looking forward to our forthcoming itinerary for Scandinavia.

P.s. Having got through that lot I then did 2 Backups, One using TT Home but NOT while connected to the Internet and the second as a Direct using explorer.

Are all tomtom live 1005 coming with lifetime maps(can i check it with only serial number?) update and if this device is not supported anymore(EOL?) how can i check what is the latest map i can download?

Not all Tomtoms Go 1005 come with lifetime maps, the only way to find out is to check with Mydrive.

But i assume by now it's game over for all of them?

Why?
Till now NAV3 officially not EOL (only a part of devices with smaller internal memory), and as you see - we have newest maps exactly from NAV3 devices.
Hence - if you own NAV3 - lifetime device - you'll have latest maps a number of years...
Moreover - if you own NAV3 EOL device, but it was lifetime - you still have your maps updated every 3 months.
