Hi all,
Among the devices not affected by EOL, what are those type models that can be updated with the downloaded maps?
Regards
Irrespective of whether they're (yet) EoL or not; all/any NAV2 device can be used with our maps (subject to memory capacity/map size) although only those not yet EoL can you still buy maps for.
See this very comprehensive list from PeterHimself:-
As I understand all devices Start, Via, Go live and newest GO (Nav4) are NOT EOL but cannot be updated with the downloaded maps.
Is it possible to downgrade these devices to Nav2 so that they can be updated with the downloaded maps?
Regards
No, that is not possible
TNX for the info ;)
Perhaps a stupid question...
I tried editing my Go 750 Live ttgo.bif file in Notepad to alter the serial number to begin with the first characters of a different Tomtom (Go 750) which is not "End of Life" W6 instead of W4.
I had to activate the map again for the "new" ttgo.bif and the map then worked.
When I run Tomtom Home it recognises the original W4 as "Go Live" and the edited W6 as "GO"
I hoped this might make Tomtom Home offer maps beyond the "End of Life" they have imposed on my Go 750 Live.
However when I select "update maps" I am offered the same selection with both ttgo.bifs, including Europe 3.5Gb but both are offered older, 1010 or 1011 maps, not the latest 1015. Does this mean that my not-so-clever disguise has failed and Tomtom knows my unit is end of life despite changing the serial in the .bif file?
Obviously I would be cautious about trying to buy a map in this way as I have no idea whether it would activate properly due to using an edited ttgo.bif file, even if I could get a 1015 version
You are jumping the gun. TomTom have not yet released their maps yet. Will possibly later this week or next. Do not delete your existing maps, as doing so will take longer to upload the new maps when they are released, as I made that mistake on the last update
Thanks for getting back. Do you think editing the .bif file might allow access to maps beyond End of Life. If a purchase was made in that way do you think there would be difficulties downloading, activating and using the new map?
