Idea Speeding up TomTom frame rate / refresh rate

I've noticed how jerky the refresh rate is on my tomtom. For example, when tracking along a route, things move in noticeable increments (maybe only 2-4 frames a second) I'm curious if it is totally dictated by the processing power/ram of the device, or if it is throttled within the navcore somewhere.

Anyone ever played around with this? Would be a cool tweak if you could increase the refresh rate for a smoother visual!

It's probably down to a shortage of RAM when travelling along a route. Do you have too many POI's enabled as that will consume an excessive amount of RAM?

Have a look at how much free RAM you have whilst on a route. If you find it's low then you need to look at disabling as many POI's as possible or if you've already done that then try installing a navcore with a built in swap file which will improve things no end.

Thanks fredderf. Only have 2x POI turned on, and even turning those off doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm on a MAZDA NB1 build in dash system running latest navcore 10.854. Not sure how much physical RAM this system has... Anyone know?

I read a bit about the swap file for 9.450 (for devices with 32MB OF RAM). Anyone know if it's possible to add a swap file to NB1 navcore 10.854?

    A swap-file don't push the "frame-rate", it will only protect a 32MB-sytem against freeze.
Use your NB1 "as it is" and look to the road and not permently on the screen.

Lol. Fair call. The jerkiness does not really bother me so much, certainly the unit is perfectly functional as is... I guess I just enjoy pushing the limits of what's 'tweakable'. I've certainly learned allot about the tomtom navcore, and achieved quite a few mods on my in dash system that I wouldn't have thought possible a few months ago! So I figure no harm in asking.
