Default Free TT update, 30 Oct 2015 "Start Navigating Quicker, Update your device"

The claim on the email from "TomTom-GB@email.tomtommailer.com:"

"Update your QuickGPSfix for FREE to improve the performance of your TomTom device, so you can set off on your journey within seconds, even if the signal is weak or partially blocked."

    How to update:

Make sure you have TomTom HOME installed on your computer.
Connect your navigation device to your computer and switch it on. TomTom HOME will automatically start and check for updates.
Check the relevant box you want to update and click "update and install".

If this is posted to the wrong place, I apologise; didn't spot a thread about TT Home updates.

As it all looked kosher (from TT, using TT Home) I did the d/l and it does seem to find satellites quicker. HOWEVER, since this update I wanted to add a POI to one of my categories(Change Preferences | Manage POIs) and it no longer will manage; it thinks for several tens of seconds the reboots.

So I ran TT's "clearflash" and still no joy and though "clearflash" does reboot my TT it no longer plays the tom toms during the "clearflash" operation.

My device: TT GO910, Navcore 9.026.483454.1 OS 473872 Boot 5.5229

Does anyone have a solution? I do have a Win Explorer full backup, from a month ago but would prefer to keep the QuickGPSfix .

May try your first suggestion 'though I usually use Home to update/add POIs for our foreign travels.

I implemented your TT Home fix, back in the day: my ttsytem file was last modified on 6/1/2010 and the fix to TT Home is until version 2.9.9.2.146 - I still remember the strife the TT Home "forced" update caused.

An afterthought; If no one comes up with a better solution to make "Manage POIs" work, I'll revert to last month's backup and use Basfit's solution.
