Dont unzip to sd-card , remove it .
Only unzip to PC
1 install APK to sd-card
2 start app , after message "Unable to connect to TomTom" , close it
it has written files and folders on card .
3 Copy the folder Files and the metadata.XML from PC into /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/com.tomtom.benelux/files on sd-card ( thus ; into the files folder )
4 Done

I unzipped to computer first. Resulting folder UK_and_Ireland_940_6004 (with 2 files inside - Tomtom and ....apk) I moved to sd card as is. Installed the apk and when opened I got the message. I am following the correct procedure?
Many thanks

Open tomtom folder > com.tomtom >
now you see FILES and metadata
These two you copy into files folder ; /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/com.tomtom.benelux/files

Thank you for your help. It started. I can access the menu but the map is black, only a blue bar at the bottom when pressed will bring up the volume. Any ideas why the screen is black an no map is displayed?
Thank you again for your help

OK I see. My wife has a Galaxy Mega 5.8 dual sim. I tried installing on hers but I don't have a path Android/data/com.tomtom.ukireland/files on sd card. I have this path in device storage and if I install there both files and meta, as instructed in an earlier post, I get same error message "Unable to connect to TomTom. Try again later." What else I am doing wrong?
Many thanks

Indeed seems to come from screen size .
The only tomtom alternative would be Tomtom GO for Mobile , but im not sure if its available yet .
ATM it is only available in Italy on TT-site
Dont bother downloading , as it is limited for 75 KM

Well........
PATH = tomtom > com.tomtom.yourcountry >> files :
is for Internal Memory on KITKAT 4.4.x and Internal Memory on LOLLIPOP 5.0
or :
Internal Memory and External SD for Jelly Been 4.0.x or previous Android O.S.
PATH = Android >> data >> com.tomtom.yourcountry >> files >> files :
is ONLY for KITKAT 4.4.X and LOLLIPOP 5.0 on EXTERNAL SD .
Note for LOLLIPOP :
works ONLY with 1.4.0 Tomtom Version.
Yes, I can confirm this
