Re: tomtom go 520
I would suggest:-
1. Run clearflash.exe 3 times allowing a reboot after each.
2. If you're not already running the latest/correct 9.465 navcore then let TTHome incrementally update it to that.
3. Do a factory reset
4. Bootloader 5.5120 is fine but latest 9.465 navcore will give you an even newer version anyway

Re: tomtom go 520
You are safe ...its No Bootloader inside the 9.465 ...take a look ...all BL 5.5*** or later can use SDHC-Card 4GB and higher , as Yuriygg say ,is the best thing you can do

Re: tomtom go 520
This may not help you much, however, I sold my 520 for a GO LIVE 550 - such a mistake. The X20 was probably one of TomTom's finest units. It allowed so many other things to be done, such as FM transmit, watching multimedia. OK, not everything was ever mentioned, but a lot of us worked on expanding its capabilities.
I got a GO Live 550 Live. It works, and it works fine, but no FM transmitter. I have got other things running, but always a bit of a struggle. I replaced the 550 for a 950 because it cost me nothing in real terms.
My honest opinion....... I would have my 720 - well it was 520, but I have huge SD Card of all maps, so is like 720.
My advice is if you see a X20 for sale, try to get it. I do not mean you bods that just use a GPS, but those of us that develop things.... X530 was lacking, X40 worse and my X50 is a poor comparison compared to the X20.
OK, I have Live services now, traffic is handy... other means to get same info
I do not work for this company, but they supply us with batteries and if you need TomTom batteries, MDS batteries are a great source.
By the way, if you have a working X20 for sale, let me know via Biggerdave (that is not nicked of course) 720 or 920. Not interested so much in 520
You are aware that many spare parts are available if you look around - remember the battery may not be dead, it just needs charging correctly. I have recently rejuvenated 5 units where the unit did not hold a charge. Battery just needed to go through recycling routine a couple of times correctly - none required new batteries.
Think about linking via a hub rather than directly and letting proper discharge happen. An intelligent battery charger can make a big difference. Try the alternatives before you opt to replace a battery. Early models were built around the battery, the X10 series were a nightmare to change batteries
