After opening the R-Link Explorer, you must open the SD card on the left panel first.
Than you will see TomTom.000, Tomtom.001, etc. on the right panel.
Open
TomTom.000 on the right panel and go to the common/installed/ map and there you must copy the new map to.

By the way I am not familiar with the
Carminat tomtom. So, I don't know how it works exactely with patching.

That's the problem, with the original SD card as it is, when open R-Link Explorer and look for TomTom.000 file, it simple isn't there... (steps 7 to 9)

Im following these steps:

Installing maps into SD Card:

1. Go to the "Map Downloader" menu.
2. From the "Map Kind/Generation" menu, select "nav3".
3. Select the region/country of your choice from the "Map Country/Region" menu.
4. Change the temporary download folder if you wish.
5. Click on "Download to Folder" which will download the map and extract it to the folder you choose.Imae resized to 78% of its original size [640 x 412]

6. Open R-Link Explorer.
7. Click on the open button () and select the TOMTOM.000 file inside your SD card location.
8. On the right-side, navigate to ext000:/common/installed/ and on the left-side, navigate to where you downloaded the map.
9. Drag and drop the map folder from the left side of the screen to the right to transfer the folder over.

TomTom Carminat from a 2010 Renault Megane, App: 8.842 is Nav2 not Nav3. You don't need R-Link Explorer! Another procedure is used.

You are quite right LAMedia.
i didn’t read the start of post #325 secure enough.
It must be treated as a NAV2 device, just put the map(s) on a normal formatted (fat32) SD card with the ttgo.bif file and activate it with TTActivator.

Hi again...
Bellow is the explanation on how I tried to do:

This is the original content of my SD card that I want to replace the 'Benelux' maps to 'Iberia' maps:

Then, for this specific device carminat tomtom (nav2) I downloaded the 'Iberia' maps to my PC using TTActivator:

Then on the original SD card I have deleted the folder 'Benelux' and copied the 'Iberia'.

After that I run TTActivator and 1st updated the meta codes and then patched the new map. Aparently all went ok with the patching process... no errors.

But when I tried to insert the card on the vehicle I got this message saying that 'This map cannot be used on this device: Iberia-103286'

This problem can eventually be related with the content of the 'ttgo.bif' file?

Thanks again for all the help

Cheers!

Yes, you have to generate ttgo.bif with information about the navigation device from the loopback.ex3 file, which is located in the loopdir folder. The application must also be patched. Read all the posts from the beginning carefully!

Regarding the ttgo.bif I have already tried to do the following:

1. Look for the folder LOOPDIR (fingerprint of your Carminat unit) and open file ext3_loopback with notepad
2. Search (ctrl+F) for the line "uniqueID" (it's 10 digit with letters & number)
3. Write down your uniqueID and close the window
4. open file ttgo.bif with notepad and replace DeviceUniqueID number with your number (10 digits without space between them)
5. Save & close
6. Open the TTactivator and activate the maps! That's it.

But for sure I have made something wrong because I got the same error message...

Can you please answer me the following questions/doubts:

- The created ttgo.bif goes into the root of the SD card before using TTActivator or FastActivate right?

- Also the TTActivator or FastActivate have to be on the root of the SD card?

- On it I just need to insert the DeviceUniqueID number or also any other info?

- When you say "The application must also be patched" you mean using the option 'Patch Navcore ttsystem or PND Navigator)' on TTActivator or FastActivate or somehow patch the device on the car?

Sorry my 'noobness' and thanks again...
