the ID is "root" but the password for the certificate is unknown

the tar is a full OS from tomtom 820

there are three possible ways to access the system:
    1) crack the password for the certificate
    2) find a vulnerability in the OS (ssh or webserver)

[Login or Register to remove this advertisement]

    3) hardwaremodification to get a tty

and there is no big chance for 1) and 2)

    4) some wizard creates a modified driver and/or exe and/or dll
    5) Tomtom wakes up and creates a good working system , as both navcores and application are still in beta-state IMO

to do what.. the updates are signed ipkg files.. if you try to modefy them the ipkg will not be installed on the system.
without modifying the base system on the device there is no way

remember ; it was only a few years ago until someone developed the EasyUseTool
and now , see what we have ...
i have never heard of one app that has not been patched one way or other
Tomtom is not going to be an exception , HA! , they are still figuring out how to get their own stuff to work

For experts in linux to see if this file to clarify something, this is the kernel 2.6.28 @ 714611 is used in NavCore 10.500

these navcores V10/V11 work with the ARM architecture s5p6440 instead of the previous s3c2410, which was more common

On these routes you will find enough code

    arch \ arm \ mach-s5p6440
    arch \ arm \ plat-tomtom

Tomtom has a windows exe that transfers stuff (like voices, sounds, favorites etc) from the pc harddisk onto a via/800/1000.
No specific drivers or internet, it's a standalone thing.
You can pick it up here

It copies files from a 'old' model onto the pc harddisk and then to the 'new' device
On a W7 system, files on harddisk are tempararily stored in
    c:\users\userid\appdata\local\temp\TTDTM

If anyone could do some reverse engineering on this exe, this might give an idea on how to access the new mdels.

I use it to put stuff on my 825.
I insert an sd card with a 9.xx navcore on it, fooling the exe thinking its a tomtom.
When it asks to connect the 825, I go and edit the temp stored file and add the files I want to be transferred.
    Works like a charm.

it needs additional engineering , indeed ....
as for now, it does exactly the same as MyTomtom , nothing more nothing less

lets hope someone can rebuild this .exe into something useful

Something like what you ask has already been achieved, but only in part

From this program, you can send POI to GPS and send POI from the GPS to this program.

If you want to try or some developer wants to try, I leave link

Thanks to the creator, Tony Anderson for this wonderful program, which has created a much better program than the program PoiEdit

    you rock , man

but , nobody want to send POIs to their device while the rest is hidden
we need to sent maps , navcores and voices

this app is another step towards the solution
hope some programmer can modify it

And can it launch to V10/V11 without starting MyTomTom, and what more important - without connecting to TomTom server, or more - without internet connection?
