    dont work for me
it recognizes the device , nothing more , thats all it does
our devices are internet based , not USB

something in there blocks every entry so i guess its an internet key that give access ( perhaps multiple , one for each section )
i said it before , we need a internet-hacker this time , normal tools dont work

    Hello,

I went through this post several times but remain unsure about my understanding. As this is my very first post, please let me introduce myself. I'm the owner of a TomTom Start 60 bought in 2012 before the option Lifetime Map Updates was available. I went through multiple forums in the web hoping to find an answer to the question of using maps shared. Regardless of the result which remains unchanged since 2010, there's no doubt possible that this forum is the most thorough about the topic I happened to read. I went with pleasure through the 51 pages although at the end I remain... uncertain of what I can make out of these.

One post in particular retains my attention. The one in which BASFLT explains how multiple devices could eventually share a same downloaded copy. In this particular case it was about using TomTom Home as Management tool while for Start 60 serie it's MyDrive. As my son is going to buy a Start 25 with Lifetime Map Updates, if my understanding is correct, by using the parameter CleanCache=false after he has downloaded his new map, I could 'plug in' my Start 60 and get my device updated with that same map?

Could someone please confirm that this is a viable solution? Many thanks.

no , its not that easy
the above was about navcore , not maps
it only means that you can download it again
this way you can install navcore not meant for your device ( other then MyDrive offers you )

maps however are still linked to a certain device , just as it has always been
you can download and install maps , but they will not be activated

    Default Tomtom content file format

    Hello,
This is my first contribution on this forum. I have read all previous posts, and I think I have discover
the meaning of the extra bytes put in TomTom content update file. In my opinion, the file format is :

    - 8 bytes : size of the destination content file

    - 20 bytes : SHA1 of the first buffer
    - 102400 bytes : first buffer

    - 20 bytes : SHA1 of the second buffer, salted with SHA1 of the first buffer
    - 102400 bytes : second buffer
    ...

I have write a piece of C# code to transform a Tomtom content file to a CPIO destination file, with the
    SHA1 verification :

    Code:

So I think it's quite easy to create a new valid content file, but unfortunately TomTom will not
accept it because of the files / files.sig check. This second check will not be easy to cheat, because
it's base on an RSA signature :

    Sig1 = openssl sha1 files
    Sig2 = openssl rsautl -verify -inkey package-publickey.pem -pubin -in files.sig -pkcs | openssl asn1parse -inform der | tail -1 | sed -e 's|.*\:||' | tr [A-Z] [a-z]

Installation can be done if Sig1 and Sig2 are equals. This mean files.sig is an RSA signature of the "files".

my opinion, the mode of operation, the tomtom MyDryve connects with the tomtom is linked with my email ID generates a key
tomtom returned to check if it matches, you update a map if you enable it.
If we had access to the internal memory (no time) would be the way to crack the sitema as was done in previous models.
trying to crack the system as you indicate meaning through the web I see it more complicated, I suppose you explain what you're trying
consiguieras it but only on my official tomtom because others have a different ID and email so that keys
    would be different.
I encourage you to continue and I wish you every success.
    Greetings.

connecting a tomtom tomtom XL to Star20 can access partitions Star20
I have not tried if someone dares.

    Simba ,

you can use different email-IDs on the same computer
i used to have 3 different email accounts with MyTomtom in my PC
now i have a clean PC , i installed MyDrive , and it updated without asking for account pass or whatever

it is a key that is sent from Tomtom that opens the connection
i think of it as a complicated internet-link , just as an address in the addressbar ( not sure )

I have started my investigations with the content file because nobody has explain why some bytes have to be removed, but
i aggree with you Simba : it will be complicated to create a fake content file because we don't have the private key to
    create a valid files.sig.

Does anyone have an idea on revinetd stuff? Someone says the device is the attacker, so this mean MyDrive is the relay and tomtom server the target? This mean the device pull update from tomtom.com, or is it the opposite?

Now I'm trying to use Qemu to emulate an ARM device, and then put some of Tomtom services. When some service (iWebserver, dropbear,
revinetd) will be working, could be possible to safely send malformed packet to find a vulnerability. I have successfully run
the dropbear service, but right now the iWebserver did not works (too many link with other part of tomtom software...).
