Did YOU know SamKnows ???
Virgin recently upped my Broadband to 350Mbps download speed BUT, running normal speed tests from various sources I never got more than around 45Mbps d/l speeds, THEN, after complaining to Virgin, they suggested I use which actually demonstrated I was indeed getting <380Mbps (at my router BUT my desktop was still only running at around 45Mbps) so (this time) I can't blame Virgin but my old/creaking out-of-date DELL Desktop PC which uses a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabyte Controller plus, no doubt, other slower boards/components etc
I did originally think it may have been my (again, very old) TP-LINK Powerline Adaptor using ethernet cables so even tried with WiFi with the same results
I don't intend to spend any money on upgrading my Desktop PC "just" for faster d/l speeds to match Virgins <350Mbps but thought I'd share this with those who were not aware of this alternative speed testbiggerdave Reviewed by biggerdave on . Unfortunately I can't run those tests for some reason, probably because my modem is in bridge mode which means that everything is passed directly to my FrtizBox 7581, formerly from XS4ALL as a modem and now serving as a router.
Since a few months I now have 1gb/75mb regarding the upload which is often closer to 80mb and the download 975mb.
All cabling and UTP switching are at least 1GB.
Wireless are only my Samsung smartphones
Nearly I forgot the HP Smart Tank Plus 570 printer
