AntiMalware and/or Antivirus with Windows 10 & Slimjet [Chrome-based] Browser?

Question AntiMalware and/or Antivirus with Windows 10 & Slimjet [Chrome-based] Browser?

I asked this same question on my "other GPS forum" and got many conflicting replies from some pretty hot computer geeks there so thought I'd throw it open here too:-

AntiMalware and/or Antivirus with Windows 10 & Slimjet [Chrome-based] Browser?

The more I read the more I confuse myself.
I'm currently running (AT THE TIME OF MY ORIGINAL POST THERE 26-OCT) Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Antivirus Free plus a craqued version of IObit Malware Fighter and a craqued Zemana AntiMalware all at the same time.
None seem to slow my PC down and each has individually & separately flagged up different problems/viruses etc from various "suspect" downloads etc from various websites I visit. Very often these are actually where I'm trying to grab licences/cracks etc for other AV/AM programs.
    Do I want/need all/any of these running?
I've also tried Panda but that was sooooo slooooow loading and running that I dumped it and have also tried HitmanPro, Avira, Malwarebytes & Bitdefender (nice & compact but no choices regarding "allow this download/run this program etc") and I'm just not sure how many of which (AntiMalware OR Antivirus) I can safely run alongside each other before causing them to trip over each other.

As you will realise, I know a bit about metas & .dcts etc but not much about this stuff so the more experienced recommendations you can offer, the better (or even more confused I'll get

A few people have advised me to ditch them all & rely on Windows Defender (WHICH I'M CURRENTLY DOING) but after reading stuff here

    I'm not too sure.

Some had also reminded me that all these "free" AV/AM programs are there to encourage you to buy their upgraded/better/faster versions

Please let me know your own personal recommendations and your reasoning behind these.

Thanks in anticipation of you confusing an old man even more than I am now!!

Well I agree, the free ones maybe ok, and defender will shop some trogans and viruses and not slow the pc, tabet or phone much.
I use McAfee though even so some may get through. Norton is really not good. I used a pro version and it would some a few years back. The secret is to use one at a time, and scan using each separately. I have found McAfee to be the best.

A good test is to uncouple internet and scan using first defender, then panda then a freeby and finally McAfee.
You will be surprised doing it in that order.
link to internet and then do the same, but using McAfee first.
That is why I use McAfee

BTW the baidu.com virus is still hitting skype. my brother sent me a link. He never does, so i did not check - I looked on google and yup, it is a virus. He never skypes me unless asking or telling me about money so I knew was not right
I think all his contact list will have got that link
One day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.

As for me - I fully agree with them, as for you - partially, because:

    Fully agree:
    - Mostly, all these AV progs just repeating each other IMHO. Moreover, some advanced users (from posts on 4pda etc.) claims about the same: free version has cut-off functionality and delays with virus definitions, full versions has enhanced functionality, reacts faster on new viruses... Maybe, but I have another opinion about this.
    - Also often I read about advanced users, who don't use any AV progs at all - just they don't visit "virus - full" sites, don't open "virus - possible" aps/letters/etc.
2 - Besides (heard about these issues not so rear, experienced on myself) - when TOTALLY NEW virus processes attack - practically there's NO AV PROGS in the world, which can protect you! These progs just compares new files with ones from their "virus-definition-database" samples, if their data out-of-date - virus will pass through...

    - yes! Cause it's not VIRUS, it's a sort of MALWARE... Indeed, it's a virus, but! If you MANUALLY won't check it - AV won't detect it! And there's a lot of similar ones...
... their behavior often simple: they just acts as "useful aps/drivers/etc" - some time ago I searched for specific driver for one of my PCs... O)f course I understood, that I can catch viruses/malwares/etc... All was merely OK (I got some of them - not critical for me - can delete them safely from PC, but...) till one app installed in Chinese... I couldn't even properly stop processes, cause couldn't choose between "yes - no" due hieroglyphs ignorance... But no probs also - System Restore Point helped me.

    OK MY resume - IMHO:
1 - use (as me myself) standard Windows Defender. Before launching suspicious files, check them with this tool.
2 - configure your PC to create System Restore Points. If you going to process some risky actions - MANUALLY CREATE System Restore Point BEFORE possible attack (or be sure W10 created such recently).
3 - time-to-time use Windows 10 Manager to scan your Registry for any unused entries (Windows likes to leave a lot of **** there, also - many progs after uninstalling leaves tails there).
4 - most important thing about Malware IMHO - to get rid of suddenly insane behavior of your browsers/unwanted software - use to scan your system (usually only System Disk/Partition becomes infected, other partitions might be scanned once, maybe - once-a-year IMHO) powerful SpyHunter (full version of cause shareware, but free - just scans your PC and shows list of severe threads; but you perhaps understood - I didn't buy it ;-) ) - it scans Registry + System Partition (or you can choose manually what to scan) for Malware - and as you understood - using it's own database.
I can prove - after MalwareBytes found several non-critical files on my PC, and surely - hadn't solve any probs with unwanted soft/browser bullshit probs - this one totally cleaned my PC. Before using it, I was nearly sure to re-install my W10. After using - it became merely as "from the box".

    Hope I helped you.

PS If any further personal questions, maybe better to ask through PM.
