help needed, ive got a new garmin edge explore unit, no sdcard slot, bought the original topo great britain v2 pro 1:25k maps on sdcard from garmin

this is where is wobbles a bit, the sdcard seems corrupt, i copied over the map files img, gma, unl to the garmin folder on my device.
aside from what i think are missing map files, ignore that for now, even when i copy over a test set of the map files, i get the error message on the
garmin device, cant authenticate map. i amfacing not know what is missing/ corrupt from tthe original garmin sdcard, i have sent a request to garmin and tried to phone them, but no answer so far,
so while i wait ive been doing a bit of triall and error with the card and device. i feel as though i am missing some files to transfer over to the device, does anyone have an inventory of the files on the topo great britain v2 pro 1:25k. ive faffed about so much with windows pc, then mac various progs, file repair progs etc, that ive lost the ability to figure out what is original on the sdcard and what isnt, i did copy the sdcard on to my hard drive as a first act of recieving it but since it seems corrupt i have no idea of what is supposed to be on there.
after some file recovery ive found an id.text and serial.bin which does look like the serial number when opened.
when copying files to the garmin device from an sdcard which files are copied, at no point have i been asked to register the maps.
i have faffed about with basecamp and express, with basecamp, if i have the garmin connected and the sdcard in the pc i can view the maps, express does not see the maps.
any pointers on which files should be copied over would be appreciated, anypointers on what files should be on the topo great britain v2 pro 1:25k card would be appreciated too.
the files i have on the sdcard are some sql files relevant to the maps, gma, unl and img files of the maps, not sure if all are there, i assume they are as to the sizes add up to close to the sdcard size.


ive messed about with some unlock progs on the img files. syas they are unlocked and fine but again, if i load one on the garmin device, it cant unlock map/ authenticate. even thought these are genuine garmin maps.i feel as if i am missing a file to copy over to the garmin which is the serial number.

there is no serial number text on the sdcard or within the envelope it came in.
what am i missing.

do the serial.bin and id.txt have to be copied somewhere on the device?
is there i file i am missing for transfer to the device that will validate the maps
all maps are from a geniunie unused garmin supplied sdcard

when i use basemaps with both garmin and sdcard plugged in i can see
north scotland
south scotland
north england and iom
west england and wales
if i use bascamp for map unlock codes i do get a list of 4 different codes but it is saying map product no installed.

help
