I have a Nuvi 3597lm shutting down after Garmin logo is shown for 3 secs both with Car charger and Computer connection. Installing cure firmware (Ver 5.50) allows the device to stay on when connected to the computer and internal storage is accessible (Ver 4.00), with car charger it still powers down. After flashing with cure firmware(v5.50) I ran rmprepusb and formatted the internal storage(after backing it up) and then flashed original Firmware (v 5.50). After that it goes back to the original state of powering down on computer and car charger. What else can I do. Please advice.

Some Garmin devices are unable to boot if the file system is completely empty. It may just need to see a Garmin folder or it may need some basic files.

Load cure firmware again and make an empty folder named Garmin in the root. Load original fw and see if it can now fully boot. If not, do the process again and load some ]known-good voice, keyboard, text etc. folders with basic files in them (do not use anything from from your recent backup though).

If you need some files from US/EU device i can help.

Okay did as you said, flashed cure firmware (ver 5.50), Formatted with rmprepusb, loader basic folders from an slightly older device nuvi154lmt , flashed original (ver 5.50), device still powering off after 3 secs with computer and car charger. I may need files from your device. Which garmin do you have?, Appreciate your time. Thanks

I have a US/EU version nuvi 3597 with HWID of 1603. Attached are some basic files and folders. There's an empty GarminDevice.xml in the Garmin folder, if the device eventually boots fully it'll re-write the XML correctly. Extract the ZIP file directly to the device with Cure fw loaded.

Out of interest, did you try with just an empty Garmin folder first?

The files you loaded from a dis-similar device might not be suitable but if it still powers off with actual 3597 files onboard it may have a hardware problem such as a failing flash chip.

    Hello B1ng0,

Appreciate the files and your time, however did as you instructed but still didnt work. Has the same issue with powering down after about 3 seconds. Also tried with an empty Garmin folder with the same result. What do you think....

I've just notice this when re-reading post #1: ".... with car charger it still powers down.". That's not typical behaviour with cure firmware loaded. Maybe it isn't a physical hardware problem however that symptom isn't totally indicative of a soft-bricking merely due to a bad file. However perhaps it had an inappropriate formatting. Also, would you explain your mention of "(Ver 4.00)" in your first post, didn't you use V5.50 to make the cure fw?

I suggest you try another FAT32 format with RMPrepUSB, carefully ensuring the check boxes and radio button settings are as follows:

After successful format, add at least an empty Garmin folder or the files i supplied and then load original V5.50 fw to see if it performs properly.
