Why do you feel that way.
If you want any type of updates you need to use GE.
OR is it you just want patch maps so you do not setup your Garmin's to be seen in GE???
So it is up to other users to do all the work and upload what you need so you do not have to do anything.......
PS:
I just took my old Nuvi out of storage and GE gave me the update with no problems at all.

Have you read the GE license?
I'm sure many are comfortable with Garmin, and others, collecting all your personal information. I'm not. After all your phone provider, govt., social media companies etc all do it so "what difference does it make?".
Everyone states "does not personally identify you". Yeah right. Oh course they can figure out who you are and where you live. That's the point.
"Collection of Information. We may collect information relating to how often you use the Application or the frequency with which certain applications and features of the Application are used. This information would be collected anonymously, in a way that does not personally identify you. We may use this information to detect broad user trends and to otherwise enhance our products or applications. Just fired up my GE virtual machine (VM), updated GE to the latest (7.16.3), and the Time Zone Map was indeed offered for download. In that VM my Garmin units are "virtualized" so Garmin won't get any useful data. I can also update other maps using the same method.Last edited by AnnoyedOne; 22nd March 2023 at 10:36 PM. Not hard to get if you are willing to use Garmin Express to up date any of your multiple devices you've mention.

Like I said above Garmin used to make it available for download on their website or via Webupdater. Nowadays it's Garmin Express (assuming you have a Windows box) or users on forums like this one. IMO Garmin Express, like a lot of other software (including some OS'es), is spyware. With effort one can minimize what data they gather.
The Time Zone map is only updated once or twice a year. I'd monitor this thread and/or do web searches to see when it's updated.

Just updated all my Garmin Units to Time Zone 33.00 via Garmin Express.
Took about 4 Minutes to do.
That included connection each one to my laptop and connecting to Garmin Express.
There is also Garmin City Navigator Europe NTU v2024.10
