noob here, asking noob questions, I apologize in advance, as I'm new to all this.
1. downloaded the 3 rar files for 2020.30
2. installed the software
3. opened basecamp, it warned there's locked maps
>>> City Navigator North America NT 2020.3 Version 23.30 Locked
4. Downloaded and installed gimgunlock .04
The Tutorial by Quebec001 talks about thee gmapsupp.img. I scanned the directories, I could not locate such a file, which leads me to believe that it has to be built according to the region you need (ex., Canada). I have not yet connected the GPS (an Old Garmin Nuvi 770. how do I proceed to build the map I need? (realistically I only need the Ontario Canada map.). I learned a hard lesson not to trust the open source maps, because they are utter crap. I was lost outside GTA Toronto because the GPS couldn't figure out where we were after a detour and was recalculating over and over. I had to rely on google maps to get me back on the highway, and the phone died just after we got on the highway. luckily it was a direct route from that point.
would appreciate any and all help to get the gmapsupp or even the original internal memory map img built.
thanks in advance.

If you can wait a little while the latest version just released is 2021.10,if you want to create your own map set with Basecamp or Mapsource you should wait until someone uploads the Unlocked Gmap folder unlocking is done by UnLockMapSource_v6.2 not Gimgunock which is used to unlock the output gmapsupp.img or any other locked .img.
I would just get an SD card less than $5 now a days and put the whole N.America .img on it.
This should fit onto your nuvi 770.You might have to rename it gmapprom if you are replacing old maps on the device.

Is there a tutorial on how to build your own maps using basecamp? I ran the UnlockMapSource and now both maps (base as well as the City Navigator NA NT 2020.30) say "Not Lockable". I would like to try out create a map (if possible) that has Ontario centred with provinces (Winnipeg/Quebec) on Canadian side as well as Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York as well as any other state that may border/touch Ontario. I understand that the 2020.30 might be an older version. But hopefully it might help me understand how it's done for future updates. (perhaps actually plugging in the GPS will open up more options?)

What size can the map set be,how much space on your nuvi 770 is available ?
You just have to play around

Will be testing it today. It's quite cold up here for the past couple of days, and spending any unnecessary time fiddling inside the vehicle is the farthest on my mind. 😂😄

Done! not only that, Connecting the GPS enabled the saving function of maps. so now I have
> CN North America NT 2021.10 Entire Canada (loaded into the SD Card, just over a GB)
> CN North America NT 2020.30 Winnipeg, Ontario, Quebec and any US State touching Winnipeg, Ontario and Quebec (Main memory)
> CN North America NT 2019.11 All (Main Memory)
I also managed to load some Routes I use a couple of time a year that has hwy rest stops, favorite ethnic restaurants and ethnic supermarkets 400km roundtrip. thanks for all the help. much appreciated.
