I've spent almost an hour here trying to find a Topo USA map that I can use with Mapsource and I am having no luck. Any help appreciated.

This is more or less what I was looking for.
Follow up question: Is there a way of taking an .img file and extracting it so that it can be read by Basecamp? or Mapsource?

Once the .img file in a Garmin folder in a Gps or Sdcard, you will see it in BaseCamp.

The link I gave: USA OSM Topo Routable: that is a download as gmap, You can put this on your PC and can be directly read by Basecamp or Mapsource

bommelb: The link you gave provides and entire folder and install instructions and simply placing it in the garmin directory results in it being recognized by both programs so it works perfect - thanks.

Pilou: I'm still struggling with the files you gave a link for. Each area has a single .img file representing it. I cannot get my software on the computer to see or recognize it no matter where I put it. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume if I copy it to a micro SD card and put in on my handheld GPS, it will appear in select-able maps on the unit. However, I still don't understand how I can use it on my PC.

If you copy the .img file in the Garmin folder of your Gps, or an USB key, or a virtyal USB drive, you will see the map in Basecamp (sorry I really don't know how to explain it better).
