Then it is some other file/files causing the problem.

Check if there are any map files in ".System" folder of your backup other than with "gmapbmap" naming. If there are such files in .System of the backup, then re-flash the device with Cure firmware to get PC access and remove any map IMG files and other associated files like UNL and GMA. GarminExpress doesn't renew basemaps so it should be safe to leave gmapbmap.img in place as it will be the OEM factory loaded originally.

If there are no other detail maps in .System, then after flashing cure fw you could progressively remove other files like GPI files from POI folder, Voice files, etc., starting with files showing recent creation dates. If you'd rather not bother with that then you can remove everything and just leave an empty GARMIN folder in the root of the internal memory. If it boots with just a GARMIN folder you can replace much of the content including map entitlement via GarminExpress. If necessary it can be reformated but don't use the Windows built-in tool for that! It may not work properly, we need to use a specialized tool named RMPrepUSB with particular settings to ensure it works properly.

PS: Of course you'll need to re-flash Original fw again after removing files and before trying a boot.

That's a good result, i assume you didn't need to re-format the internal memory. after you've replaced files with GarminExpress you may have to copy a basemap manually into the .System folder. The one from your backup should be safe to use, look for gmapbmap.img in there. It's very unlikely it was the problem being as it's the original basemap from the factory.

If you'd rather use an 'known-good' basemap just let me know and i'll upload one for you. Without a basemap navigation may fail and zooming out on the map screen might cause the 3790V to freeze, crash or spontaneously reboot.
