Of course Garmin_Nuvi, my appreciation will always go to FireFox58 for not only helping me but countless others on the forum. But appreciation also goes to you for reactivating both links for me within the shortest possible time. You guys are really your brothers' keepers.

Hi
I have a problem with the patch for a gpsmap 276cx (2479- fw 480)
- I decompressed the file GPSMAP276cx_ (2479) _480_JNXpatched.rar on the desktop
- I open garmin webupdater
- I connect the GPS (it is recognized)
- I drag the .gcd file onto the Webupdater window
But the .gcd file refuses to go to the Webupdater window
I can move it anywhere but it does not stay on webupdater !!!
I do the manipulation on a PC
anyone know where the problem may come from?
thank you

The only change is about Edge Explore (HWID 3011) in defs.txt file
from:
[3011]
MSV={(70|30) b5 [7-22] 01 24 [5-15] (3a|49) f0 ?? ?? (01 a8|08 a8|68 46|0a a8) (3a|49) f0 [60-100] 01 24 ?? ?? ?? ?? (30|70) bd} => {00 20 70 47}
to:
[3011]
MSV={(70|30) b5 [7-22] 01 24 [5-15] ?? f0 ?? ?? (01 a8|08 a8|68 46|0a a8) ?? f0 [60-100] 01 24 ?? ?? ?? ?? (30|70) bd} => {00 20 70 47}

Thanks for your answer FIREFOX but i dont know how to determine my HWID. Because when I open "GarminDevice.xml" there are so much lines and cannot apply tutorial for determining HWID through <PartNumber>006-Bxxx-00</PartNumber>.
When I apply anoother method for identify HWID: "Press and hold the Battery Symbol on the main page ['Where To?/View Map'] for ~6 seconds to reach a hidden menu [if the unit's on charge and the battery symbol doesn't show, just press where it normally displays]:
When the 'SW Ver' page shows, press 'Next'/lower RH corner until you reach a page headed 'Version Information' [some units need only one press, newer units need many presses to get there]. When on 'Version Information' page, press 'Start Test' > 'More'. That will reach the 'Inventory' page and its top 3 lines will show the second entry as 'Bxxx-00' where 'xxxx' is the HWID. [BTW, the third entry again displays the currently loaded firmware version].
I JUST COME TO SOME COLORS ON SCREEN.
As I read this forum before asking this question i saw importance for identify HWID because I can ruin my device andit can become usless(bricked).
I dont know how to patch I am not so good IT expert. I really dont know what I have to do I will read your instruction but I am afraid I miss some steps.
