Hi, Do I need a firmware patch for nüvi 3597LMT firmware 5.50 ?

When inserting unlocked maps the device shows a black screen after displaying the Garmin logo.

Following a software repair last June (device stuck on initial Garmin screen following a try to insert a 1,000 km route), Garmin Repair center performed a programmed obsolescence of the GPS, in defiance of current EU laws about that, by barring it from any Lifetime Maps Update and did set inside CN Western Europe 2019.10, without any advanced notice. This is in violation of the product description which is for full CN Europe. Before 2018, they were setting up a full Europe image dating back to 2013 in order to get it in the small HD capacity of the device. However with the SD card and Garmin Express I was able to get the latest version of CN Europe. But no more.

It's not necessary to patch the firmware of the nuvi 3597, it does not contain MSV.
You can use a unlocked map. Unlocked with the appropriate tool gimgunlock-0.04.exe

I confirm what told above, Nuvi 35x7 & 35x8 doesn't need any Patch to read Unlocked Maps

OK. Then how to circumvent the .gma file for a map ? on the Garmin nuvi 3597.
When I look at maps coming from Garmin I have both an anlock in .unl and a .gma file.

There is notingh to circumvent, you can forget .gma and .unl

OK. Then as Garmin did set up CN Western Europe on the nuvi 3597 LMT device itself, I tried to add the unlocked CN Europe North 2019.30 gmapprom.img renamed gmapsupp.img and the CN Europe South d6210080a.img unlocked (by gimgunlock 0.04) on the SD Card in Garmin/Map/ with the 2 JCVs in SD Card Garmin/JCV. Then placed the SD Card in the nuvi 3597 LMT then when turning on the GPS, I go to Settings --> My Maps and they are not listed here ... I only see Europe DEM, CN Europe 2018.30 3D and CN Europe NTU 2018.30 Western Europe (all installed by Garmin during the last repair).
So what should I do to get those maps seen by the GPS ?

Well I solved the problem. The maps should be placed in the \Garmin directory on the SD Card. The \Garmin\Map directory won't work on the nuvi 3597.
