Could you clarify something for me? The instruction for methode 2 at post #105 is:With the device connected GE copy new Firmware Update (if any available) into device and ask for reboot. Do not remove the device (this is very important) but move GUPDATE.GCD in your PC......" Just to be sure, when you write "ask for reboot" do you mean to go ahead and reboot the device and only after the reboot is done to patch the GUPDATE .GCD file? Or, do you mean once GE does its thing and ask for reboot, patch the GUPDATE.GCD file before accepting the reboot request?
In other words, do we patch before or after the reboot?

The Firmware must be patched after GE transfers it into Device, and BEFORE you reboot Device itsself. Only this way guarantees that Firmware Loaded into Device is correctly patched and updated
I am waiting for someone uploads Original Firmware, as it is not available on web

Hello everyone
most of the new garmin maps are no longer usable with some Gps and so you have to patch the Gps to be able to read them
Take the example of the Topo Italy V5 Pro found on GPSURL.
I downloaded the unlocked version, it does not work in my Montana 680, so you have to patch it
but I found a version of the same map that works in this same GPS and without patch!
and it's not the only country
WHY ?
Is there a way to make the copy work without patch?
I would like to compare the blocked .img file and the .img file that works without patch on the Gps
