HI all,
I have a Nuvi 2699. When connected to USB, it charges, but is not detected by the computer. I have tried two Garmin cables, and a couple of other data cables with no luck. It is not detected in pre-boot mode either. I have checked the port
on the device, and all is well. I am now stumped.
I am convinced this is firmware, but obviously can't update it. Or is it hardware?

You do not say how it ended up not being recognised by your PC, we assume it boots up and run correctly
Try reinstalling the Garmin USB drivers shared in this post
