Thanks for your quick reply! (Which i did not register before today.)
When reading through this thread I agree FireFox58's break is well deserved indeed.
First i checked HWID:
<Model><PartNumber>006-B1859-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>550</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>GPSMAP 64s</Description></
<Model><PartNumber>006-B3028-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>310</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>GPSMAP 66ST</Description>
Bingo!
Now I'll test the patching process on the old unit first...
Thank's for helping!

Hi, I recently bought a refurbish garmin nuvi 2699 with no return policy. It turned out that the device can not enter mass storage mode the mini USB just charging. I've tried many ways with no success maybe the connecting board.
Is there any way to patch it through the micro sd card ?
Please help. For the price I've paid if no success it's a total mess :/.
After contacting the buyer. He tells me that the device was in version 8.50 and working perfectly well but right after upgrading it to 8.80 it lost the mass storage mode. Now is possible to revert to initial version 8.50 with just using the micro sd ?
Most likely your device has hardware damage. it is not related to firmware. most likely the sale was associated with this particular problem. in preboot mode does the computer see the device? your device model was released with two versions of revision boards(HWID). you need to be extremely careful not to kill the device at all. To begin with, it is recommended to do a full reset of the device. (Clear nonvol)and then try connecting another cable to another port or computer.
I'm feeling grateful since he responds my question ... :/
Yes I've already tried these solutions with no success. Tried also to go back to 8.50 version with the micro sd but since the gupdate file still in the internal memory nothing is done.
Please help I don't want to spend my days using the open street maps ( Although they are making a great job for an open source)
