Just created a new account to try and unfortunately, when logged in, it still does exactly the same thing in the same thread only, and again other threads seem to work fine.
Logout and I can view the whole thread again.

However I did discover that in General Settings if I change Thread Display Mode: to Linear Newest First, instead of the default Linear Oldest First, I can view the whole thread while logged in, this is the same for both accounts.
The other account I made with a username JmaCWQ-2, so you can probably delete that if you choose to as I don't think I'll use it...thanks!

It appears consistent when set as Linear Newest First, every time I click post #1's link in that thread it takes me to the last post in the thread with previous posts all shown below it as expected.

I see another issue since changing that setting, and again only in that one thread, others seem fine.
The dark header background image at the top of the page doesn't seem to load correctly every time, reload the page and then it seems to show up ok.
The links to Settings and my Profile etc. are still there when moused over, just can't see them without the prelight from the mouse over.
Changing the thread display mode to the other 2 settings doesn't appear to solve anything as I'm not sure what those settings are supposed to actually do, I can't follow them.

This image shows what I see until I reload the page:

So nearly there now. Don't worry about sometimes having to refresh/reload, I get this sometimes on this and other forums.

of course plan b) would entail selling the Garmin & buying a TomTom

biggerdave, yes I noticed that too. The reason seems to be connected to banner or some sort of advert that does not always load into page you view. But if you refresh it you will be able to post a quick reply etc. It is kind of annoying but it is what it is, the important part is that the forum and pages do work.

I am using Chrome, I did have a issue with one thread or post that would not load. I got help from someone else updating the post and then forgot about it. Came back two weeks later to post a reply and then it just worked. Do not know why I had a issue in the first place.

I agree, it's "just one of those things" we perfectionists have to put up with in life!
Mind you, without these hiccups the OED would have to delete/redact/expunge "moan", "complain" & "whinge"

Seems I've just found a solution and hopefully I didn't just jinx myself by saying that...

Looks like it's the setting Number of Posts to Show Per Page: that is responsible for this cutting off the end of thread behaviour for me.
At any forum I use I always set that number to maximum to see more posts on the one page.

Changed the number of posts from 40 to 30 and it works fine, I can see all the Firmware Patcher thread with the display setting Linear Oldest First, which I much prefer to everything being backwards.

's post #13 above, the top link takes me to the last post in the thread as it should.

This behaviour appears to be repeatable, switch the Number of Posts setting back to 40 and it doesn't work correctly, switch again back to 30 and it works ok.

Experimenting with the Number of Posts settings shows this:
Switching to 20 and clicking the last post link takes me to what shows page 42: Results 821 to 840 of 1239.
Switching to 10 takes me to what shows as page 42: Results 411 to 420 of 1239.
Switching to 5 takes me to what shows as page 42: Results 206 to 210 of 1239.
Switching to Use Forum Default takes me to what shows as page 42: Results 411 to 420 of 1239
Switching back to 30 again and it works fine, takes me to the last post of the last page of the thread as expected.

Here's a couple of screen shots showing what happens when the Number of Posts setting is on Use Forums Default:
The top one shows the link's destination when moused over, which appears correct, the link for the last post in the thread.
And the bottom one shows where I land once clicking the 'last post' link, nowhere near where it should be.
Note the address in the browser's address bar actually has the last post number shown, but that's not where it goes to.
I have no idea where it's getting the "-42" shown in the browser address bar from as that's not shown when mousing over the link before clicking it

EDIT: I'll know if my solution is properly successful once someone posts in the Firmware Patcher thread...

Interesting...I've never seen the header not load correctly until I switched the view mode from Oldest First to Newest First, and now I've switched it back again while experimenting today it loaded correctly every time.

Well...if TomTom makes a device that can do similar to either a Montana 610, 276CX and Montana 700 can do I'm sold, I'll take 2.
Erm...do what they can do without the bugs and poor performance too I mean... so far the 700's been an expensive disappointment...Garmin, even with their vast resources just can't seem to get it right.

I see someone's posted in the Firmware Patcher thread.
I always navigate to forums via a 'new posts' link.
I did this, saw the troublesome thread had been posted in, then clicked the link to show the first unread post and it took me straight there to the correct post, all visible, nothing missing and no problems
