it has nothing to with your radio , its a standalone antenna
if it takes a long time to find a channel , try to set the channel manually in the device
the channels with the signal are most often the same as the local radio-stations

To my direct experience, to quickly find a channel, it is better to have the vehicle stationary, until we receive the RDS signal of the radio station. (Google translator)

I posted same below in another thread, but goes for here too:

usually my TT Traffic is acquired within minutes of using my 730, but when I do have issues, I've usually found that rebooting the device or the traffic gets it going. The other day though, it just wouldn't come in after 45plus minutes of rebooting and trying. Then for some reason I thought I'd see what happens if I put the traffic to use by selecting my
"Work to Home" in the traffic section, and BANG!!!!!!!!!!, the traffic connected immediately and I had my big green ball at the top. I guess it could've been a coincidence as I've only had the one time to test this so far, as the trouble connecting appears to happen after the battery has died.

Has anyone had any experience with TomTom Part number: 9UCB.002.00? It looks the same as 9UCB.001.00 and certainly has the ariel with it, but the supplier says that it does not mention RDS-TMC on the box. I did ring TomTom but I was put on hold by the service agent when he looked up the part number and I hung up after 5 mins of waiting for him to get back to me.

Thanks for the reply, I managed to track down 9UCB.001.00 at a reasonable price and have ordered one, but they seem to be getting as hard to find in the U.K as Rocking Horse sh*t. BuyBits has them for £67 plus postage but I think that's a bit steep. With 9UCB.002.00, the supplier says that the 'dangly bit' is with it so I would think that it is the RDS version but better safe than sorry.

I have a usb antenna on my trusty TT930 and its great, but my son has a TT950 and has been told that the mount is superior to the usb version. Now as it seems that he has more money than sense, or to use my words, you can't educate pork, I will leave the reasoning up to you.

Yes, I've got one of those 'Active Mounts' for my Go940 Live. They are difficult to find now but I eventually managed to find someone on eBay selling brand new ones for £34.00 delivered.

It's got 2 extra inputs over the standard mount and of course it's got the RDS-TMC aerial built in. One of those inputs is for connecting an iPod to your device and the other one is an audio out.

thread when he says the following:

    Key Positive :
    Simple to install
    Simple to use
    Short cable for antenna
    Very good sensitivity
Operating even with no power supply
    Fast synchronization (similar to V3)
    No fees to pay
Ipod connection and audio output integrated

    Key negative :
    Price
No North American version available (but maybe working with new RDS-TMC in FM band now in NA)

It's much better over the other types of cable...faster, works with no power connection so much less clutter in the car.

I'm glad I bought one and would recommend them to anyone
