    Been doing a search and came across this: 'they both show a corrupted version of the animation with the blue SD card inserted with the red cross through it. It only shows the first fraction of a second of the animation looped.'

    So it appears I'm only getting part of the animation, missing the red cross symbol.
    I've now tried 3 different sd card which work properly in other devices.

    I'm thinking the sd adapter kit is faulty?

    I just visit this forum to write my thoughts about that SD slot
    Is it brand new ?

    Two things are sure, the Bootloader recognize there is an SD card, it show now GO 710
    Next your device want to read from the SD card, but ............... no success.
    Watch carefully the flatcable, be sure the connector is closed
    Try to look inside if there is any damage of any contact

    When I've a quick look at my spare one I'm able to see all the contacts
    On the flatcable is written

    Valencia -Flex2-V2
    PCB P/N DD0VF5TH311
    FPC CABLE ASSY VF5
    (YAM) SD-CARD
    (50P.R3A)

    Why don't you live next door ?

    BL 55.5234 ??? I prefer BL 5.5120 or 5.5279 for a x10 with SDHC.
    Try a small SD (with 8 MB to 1 GB), if these card recognised, than your current BL is wrong. Copy the 5.5120 or 5.5279 to this small SD and start the BL-update with this card.

    That Bootloader must be 5.5234, I don't remember which was my original on the GO 910, but I'm rather sure I'm using now 5.5128

    Just updated my GO910 because of HDD failure and used a CF Compact Flash to ZIF 1.8" Adapter Converter Card and 16GB compact flash drive from ebay, satnav is running navcore 9.530 with map version UK&ROI 1003.8763 and although very slow for the gear gog in satnav to engage booting up but once booted it runs just great so hopefully it will last me for some time yet.

    And I had the 720 which was european version. Great unit and one of the best. Quite a lot slower compaired to newer units, but still great. The maps and routes are virtually the same, but does not after initial route planned, take into account traffic delays and reroutings when things change. Hence they made newer versions with proper rount planning and live traffic. Even so, a really great unit...but technology goes on for better and worse. For us, not being able touseIf its any help, my bootloader shows C to edit files and have to go to MyDrive was a sad day for us all. I used to enjoy coding and rectifying mistakes etc. Sadly no more

    BootloaderTarget=s3c24xx
    Bootloaderversion=5.5277

    for 720

    One thing you have to think about with bootloaders, and luckily you have the correct one(s) because the older ones only support SD Cards, not SDHC. There were very few SD Cards at 8GB, as they changed them to 8GB SDHC soon after. Much the same with max file size was 4GB. It is a lot bigger now of course, but at the time, it caused problems doing a billing nun that exceeded 4GB
    One day, someone might make things work perfectly before release. Sadly not in my or your lifetime. At least by finding problems and sorting them, we are still alive.
