That is realy difficult to say with only pictures. Do you have any tool to measuring at least if there is tension behind the power connector ?
These connections are quite often the problem. I'm not sure if there is a separated power connector or only via the USB.
If your device still work when connected with your PC or external power supply I'm affraid the regulator is out of order, difficult to repair with all these SMD components

The usb is the only entrance.
I would buy some tool to do some tests ... what would you advise me? but it means something that the indicator LED is accessed?

    # are you sure its not charging ?
if so , how you know ?

    # have you tried a different cable ?
a broken cable is more common then a busted device

    # if it was mine , i trashed it and bought another second hand Tomtom , you had enough trouble with it already

Start with a visual inspection at the outside of the USB connector, these things are so thinny they are damaged quite easy.
Then start at the inside behind the USB connector, there must be 4 connetions, both at the outside left and right are the + and the -
Connected to your PC or power supply you must have there at least 5v. Move the USB connecter and watch the circuitboard for any lost connection.
It could even possible that one of these copper traces is broken. If one of the power connectors has lost the connection with the mainboard, clean it and solder it or ask someone who is
familiar to work with such small traces. Take a piece of electricwire, the best are made of copper, take just one of these thinny wires wrap one end around the linkup of the USB and solder all
be aware for any short circuit.

With a little bit of luck, follow basflt his advice

    Goodluck anyway

I took some pictures, the USB connector, you can find some anomaly? unfortunately I have not the instrument for the measurement, but only the welder ....

I would cut your losses and scrap this (or reassemble it & sell on eBay as "faulty, for spares or repairs") and get something else.

I think Biggerdave his suggestion is the best solution. Hardware is very difficult to repair from a distance

    Hello,
Acquarius83, on your pictures Nbr. 3 and 4, you can see a chip (U13), this is a LTC3455, and it is the Power generator for your TomTom.
Pin 9 of this chip is the battery charging power supply and it is going directly to the + pin of the battery connector (where the battery red wire is connected).

Looking at your photo 4 as it is shown, the battery connector is the white 3 pins connector on the middle left of the board. The + pin is the leftmost pin.
First, unplug the battery and plug your TomTom board USB connector to an USB 5v Power supply or a PC USB port; the TomTom green Led should be lit.
(If the Led doesn't lit, the USB connector may not be well soldered, but it seems to look good at your second pictures set, or the 5,6v protection zener diode may be shorten and there is nothing more you can do, except replacing it.)
Check the voltage on this + pin of the battery connector; you should read 4,2v. (take the ground at the metallic rectangular frame, GPS antenna frame or screw, etc...)
Now plug the battery in and check the voltage again ; the voltage should be around 3,9v, depending on the battery initial charge.
If, when the battery is not plugged in, you can not see any voltage on the + pin of the battery connector, the chip is probably dead.
In this case, there will be probably no voltage either on the three round ferrite coils.
Even if the device is not switched ON, there should be a voltage on two coils when there is +5v power on the USB connector.
    Looking at photo 4 :
    - the coil on the left of the chip should read 3,33v
    - the rightmost coil should read 4,97v
    - the middle coil, just at the right of the chip, reads 0v, but will read 1,46v when the board is switched ON (press a few seconds on the Power switch).
If the ship is dead, it can be replaced, but this is a hard work (especially on this board because components are very close to each other) and you need a hot air station.
I used to replace this chip a few times to repair some x20/30 TomTom, but in your case, if the chip is dead, I think you better have to buy an other GPS.

@Manifold, this is realy a detailed helpfull answer. I'm quite sure it's not only your hobby to repair circuitboards. I don't have a hot air station either, they are a little to expencive for me.
And it's sure almost impossible to replace these SMD components with the right equipment.
    Many thanks for your contribution.

    Aad - pe1agp
